Product Management are set of work in such a way that one takes the product from ideation to launch in the market, ensuring that the needs of the intended audience is met. This involves the product manager to be involved in all the stages of the life cycle.

The responsibilities undertook by a product manager is divided into two categories one is inbound product management and outbound product management.

What Does Product Manager does?

Even though there is no set defined set of the boundaries for product management but few pointers can give an overview of what is product management is

  • Define grand vision for the product.
  • Be the voice of customer and empathise with customer.
  • Define Roadmap.
  • Align internal and external stakeholders with the goal.
  • Set the metrics to define what success is for the product.
  • Preparing PRD.

What does it take to be a Product Manager?

  • Self-Motivation.
  • Having telemetry (brining clarity to context).
  • First to take blame & last to take recognition.
  • Accepting failure since success rate is low in product management.
  • Doing repetitive work.
  • Shared understanding

  1. Finding a problem to solve
  2. Questioning the problem (Size of the opportunity, Is there any existing solution)
  3. Testing the possible solution
  4. Defining a solution.
  5. Get buy in of all stakeholders.
  6. Build MVP
  7. Guide execution
  8. Deliver it for launch.
  9. Get Feedback.
  10. Improvise on feedback.
